With just a week to go until Christmas, we’re so excited to bring you another festive and delicious quick, easy, healthy dish that you can serve as an appetizer for your family and guests. If you’re looking for a simple and delicious appetizer, look no further.
Beets are a great source of nutrients including fiber, folate, and vitamin C. Combined with chickpeas that are high in protein this spread will suit your vegetarian and vegan diet guests. The flavors in this spread are going to give your guests life!
Let’s not withhold from you any further how you can whip up this savory spread and hot crunchy pita bread…
1/2 cup of olive oil
2 tablespoon organic maple syrup
Juice and zest of 1 large lemon
1/4 teaspoon of cumin powder
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 large beet, roasted and peeled
1 can chickpeas, drained
1 garlic clove, peeled
1 basil leaf
1/2 large avocado
1/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
dime size of fresh ginger peeled
Sweet Beet Spread: Add all ingredients to the blender in the order listed and secure the lid. Select your spread program if you have one or start the machine, slowly increase to its highest speed, and blend for 1 minute. If air pockets form you can add a little water at a time but not too much as this will change the consistency of the spread.
Toasted Pita Bread: Cut pita down the middle. Open pita pocket and pull edges. You may use a knife if the edges do not come apart easily. Cut pita in triangle slices and drizzle olive or avocado oil over them. There are several ways to toast pita bread… in a flat pan in the oven, in the toaster oven or toaster, or in an air fryer. The goal is for the pita bread to get slightly brown and crunchy.
